Cook Inlet Tribal Council (CITC) is one of the nation’s preeminent culture-based social-service organizations, so Yuit designed their website with a bright, cheerful style to inspire hope in people who may be going through difficult times and yet also be a culturally appropriate resource for Alaska Native people that delivers information and an understanding of the services CITC has for them. We began by conducting a focus group, which produced results our team used as a foundation for an effective strategy.
Conquer COVID Coalition
2020-2021
In late December 2020, when the Conquer COVID Coalition launched, vaccines were not widespread, offices were closed, many Alaskans were working from home, and remote learning was the norm. As part of the initial effort, the coalition provided posters to Anchorage restaurants that read, “Stay Safe. Order Take-Out.” Fast-forward to summer 2021, at the height of the delta variant, there was a critical need for continued messaging on COVID mitigation. The coalition provided age-appropriate posters for educators, provided vaccine protection sleeves at vaccination events and distributed coffee sleeves with messaging about vaccinations and testing.
Alcohol Tax, Prop. 13
February 2020
Various distribution methods were strategically used to reach various audiences during our work on Proposition 13, the Anchorage ballot measure to implement a 5% alcohol tax. Research showed many who already supported the alcohol tax were progressives 18+ and independents 50+. We targeted direct mail to both groups reminding them to support the alcohol tax and to mail in their ballot.
